How can I raise a claim for Pre-hospitalisation and Post-hospitalisation expenses?

Generally, most of the insurers allow an insured to raise a claim for their Pre-hospitalisation expenses and Post-hospitalisation expenses however, this may from insurer-to-insurer. In order to understand what is the time frame of these expenses and what is included under these expenses, read this guide.

The claim procedure such expenses is almost identical to the process of reimbursement claims. In order to understand how to raise a claim on Nova Portal, please read this guide. In order to understand how to raise a claim for reimbursement claims, please read this guide.

The only difference in raising a claim for pre and post hospitalisation expenses is that an insured must keep in mind the time frame for such expenses. Usually, for Pre-hospitalisation expenses, it is 30 days and for Post-hospitalisation expenses, it varies from 45-90 days however, it may vary from insurer-to-insurer. Any expenses exceeding these time-frame will not be liable for raising a claim.

Other point of difference in raising a claim for these expenses is that the insured isn't required to get the Claim Form: Part B filled from the hospital's end. Also, the insured must make sure that these expenses are for the same condition for which the patient was admitted for.

As for documents, the insured must upload the required claims form (Part A) and attach all of their hospital bills and all relevant documents (such as confirmation of diagnosis. prescriptions, discharge summary, etc.) on the Nova Portal itself. You can find the list of all the required documents here.
